A project we’ve loved working on in the studio recently, designing a new product line for the brilliant London Transport Museum Shop. The range celebrates the iconic London Underground with a new set of designs that are on everything from pencil cases to t-shirts. Classic merch.
The Setup
As well as being a fine day out, the London Transport Museum is also the custodian of all the wonderful Tube based design through the ages. It was great then, to be invited to work on a new gift range for shop, celebrating the world’s first underground system. The brief was to create a range of products that were instantly recognisable and yet represented the Tube in a new and unexpected way.
The Delivery
We were keen to design products that not only looked cool but were also actually interesting and informative, we wanted customers in the shop to pick things up and be all like “Ooh I didn’t know that”. Each design uses Tube Lines exactly sized to match their real-world lengths in kilometres. We made a whole series using both the full hero lockup and selected lines grouped together for more colourful variations and more flexibility in the range. Every now and again it's really satisfying to see our design work come to life, especially for something as iconic as the London Underground. We're pround that we’ve been able to contribute a little bit to the journey.
